Space facility opens for business
Sypris Electronics has opened its new 900m2 space manufacturing facility.
Sypris Electronics officially opened its 900m2 space manufacturing facility on Wednesday 24th August 2005.
The new facility, which is completely dedicated to the production of spaceflight electronics, is part of the company's 29,500m2 engineering and manufacturing operation in Tampa, Florida.
Sypris Electronics' space facility is certified to NASA-STD-8739 specifications and is staffed by employees averaging 13 years experience building defence and aerospace products.
Over the past decade, Sypris Electronics has delivered thousands of space qualified assemblies to its aerospace customers.
John Logrando, Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems' Director of Government Programmes, said, "We have selected Sypris Electronics as a strategic manufacturer to produce key electronics assemblies for our commercial and military satellites".
"They achieved supplier excellence in 1999 for their space manufacturing efforts and were recognized as a star supplier - perfect product in 2002".
