Protocol analyser checks out USB traffic

A SysNucleus product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Aug 23, 2007

Software-only USB protocol analyser allows USB firmware/driver developers and testers to monitor USB traffic at host controllers, hubs and devices, with no additional hardware.

SysNucleus has released a new version of USBTrace, the software-only host-side USB protocol analyser for Windows.

A software-only USB protocol analyser allows USB firmware/driver developers and testers to monitor USB traffic at host controllers, hubs and devices, without using any additional hardware.

The tool shortens debugging sessions by giving detailed information regarding USB requests passing through various levels of the USB device stack.

USB packets are captured, decoded and displayed to make analysing easy.

In addition to capturing and decoding standard USB requests, USBTrace also captures and decodes class specific USB data packets.

The tool supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server and Windows Vista operating systems and works with USB 1.x and 2.0 (low, full and high speed) host controllers, hubs and devices.
