Groups of buyers and decision makers from 16 countries will attend UK Trade and Investment's TechnologyWorld05 on 17th May at the Welcome Genome Campus at Hinxton Hall in Cambridge These missions will be coming from Japan, Canada, Germany, USA, Spain, Australia and India, among other leading technology markets, to meet UK technology companies in healthcare, security and the environment

"This is excellent news".

"The mission from Japan alone is expected to include representatives from some of the world's top technology brands including Ricoh, Sanyo and Panasonic", said Robert Driver, Director, High Technology Sectors for UK Trade and Investment.

"TechnologyWorld05 will provide an ideal opportunity for technology companies from all over the UK to meet and explore business ideas and partnerships with leading international companies all under one roof".

UK Trade and Investment is assisting over 70 selected international companies to visit TechnologyWorld05 and participate in over 500 pre-arranged meetings with UK companies during the event.

Members of the missions will have the opportunity to seek partners through a "match-making" facility.

There will also be a full seminar programme and exhibition.

Overseas companies have listed sensors, actuators, optical devices, robotics, software applications or developers and connectivity specialists as just a few of the areas of expertise they believe UK companies can offer.

Simon Payne, CEO of Cambridge-based Adiabatic Logic, has recently returned from a trade mission to Japan.

He welcomed the international response to TechnologyWorld05: "On the latest mission to 'silicon seabelt' in Japan, we were encouraged by the high regard held for the best UK technology".

"Our interest was in exploiting patents in the low power technology arena, where we offer power savings in chips used for portable devices such as laptop computers, but from our experience I believe companies in many high-tech sectors could benefit from the increased international exposure afforded by TechnologyWorld05".
