Taiyo Yuden has announced a breakthrough in its MK series to include a new 1uF multilayer chip capacitor in an ultra small 0402 size and Y5V temperature coefficient This extends the range to include capacitors up to 100uF in 1812 size

The high reliability and polarity-free multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) provide designers with new avenues for miniaturisation in portable and mobile communications equipment.

With the lower-cost Y5V dielectric, MLCCs demonstrate impressive impedance stability over wide temperature ranges - important for reliable operation in bypass applications.

Taiyo Yuden's multilayer technology combines small component size with high capacitance values.

Designed with internal nickel electrodes, the devices feature a low ESR (equivalent series resistance), and thereby excellent noise absorption characteristics.

In addition, these chip components are also ideal replacements for electrolytic capacitors as they have higher permissible ripple current values, relatively smaller case sizes and higher insulation resistance and breakdown voltages.
