Kyocera establishes intent with Pocket Cosmo
The Pocket Cosmo next generation PDA from Kyocera is based on Tao's intent universal multimedia platform.
The OCPA, was established by Sharp, Kyocera, JVC and Tao Group to promote the global standardisation of Tao's intent media platform to enable companies to create branded and differentiated products such as smart phones, digital cameras and PDAs, capable of running premium content.
The association is already enjoying strong support for these objectives, not only from hardware manufacturers and software vendors, but also from related sectors, including ASPs, contents providers and carriers.
The OCPA's underlying principle is to provide a discussion forum that enables member companies to contribute to the development of an open platform that delivers the most compelling content irrespective of the device used to run it.
The association will continue to announce high profile memberships from a variety of business sectors over the next quarter.
Francis Charig, Chairman, Tao Group and Vice-Chairman of the OCPA said, "Tao is fully committed to supporting the open approach of the OCPA and we are excited to be able to contribute to its development.
Tao will be actively involved in the operations of the organisation and will be making every effort to make sure that the results meet the aspirations of all the membership.
This community is now positioned to be able to deliver improved services and contents to the benefit of network operators, broadcasters and other service providers, content developers and, most important of all, the consumer".
