The Heron HECPCI9 6U CompactPCI board offers developers an impressive 32M gates of Virtex-II FPGA resource in a single cPCI slot.

The Heron HECPCI9 6U CompactPCI board offers developers an impressive 32M gates of Virtex-II FPGA resource in a single cPCI slot It targets computationally intensive real-time applications, such as software defined radios (SDR), industrial imaging, automation and sonar

The modular hardware architecture of the HECPCI9 provides four Heron module slots for adding FPGA as well as DSP and I/O resources.

Each Heron FPGA module adds a Virtex-II FPGA of up to 8-million-gate density with up to 512Mbyte of SDRAM.

Optional DSP and I/O modules allow the FPGA resource to be complemented by TMS320C6000 DSPs as well as fully integrated 12, 14 and 16bit analogue interfaces.

For extreme processing requirements, multiple HECPCI9 boards can be combined to form large multiboard configurations, with each board's FPGA, DSP and I/O modules interconnected within a high-bandwidth (400Mbyte/s) network.

Users are then free to arbitrarily combine FPGAs, DSPs and I/O interfaces on a greater scale to accommodate extreme performance requirements.

The Heron HECPCI9 carrier board is available now at $4080 in single quantities.
