Smaller faster TriCore code promised from toolset
A new embedded software development toolset is expected to increase execution speed and reduce code size up to 10% over the current Tasking toolset for Infineon's 32bit TriCore architecture.
TriCore tools aid automotive applications
Altium has released version 2.2 of its Tasking TriCore VX-toolset.
Altium is now the only embedded software development tool vendor to support all microcontrollers from Infineon Technologies.
"We are pleased to have Altium as a partner to support the TriCore TC1130 right from its introduction to the market", says Donal O'Donnabhain, Tool Line Manager from Infineon Technologies, Automotive and Industrial.
"The Tasking compiler provides the level of execution speed, code density and stability critical for high-performance industrial applications, and the CrossView Pro debugger offers an easy and accessible platform to facilitate testing code on a TC1130 evaluation board".

Tasking has announced the immediate availability of the Tasking DSP56xxx Tool Suite V3.0, featuring advanced debugging capabilities and a new integrated development environment.
XA tool suite uses Safer C for robust code
Tasking says its XA Tool Suite V4.0 has enhanced easy/expert configuration modes that simplify the learning curve for novices, while offering low-level control for the more experienced.
Since Infineon Technologies was formed, Altium has been committed to supplying high-quality development tools for its entire range of 8, 16, 32bit and DSP architectures.
As a result of this relationship, Altium is now the only vendor to support all microcontrollers from Infineon - including the new TC1130.
The support for the TC1130 in the Tasking TriCore VX-toolset includes the availability of special function register files, debugger connectivity to evaluation boards, and quick-and-easy selection and configuration of the new device from within the development suite.
The automatic customisation of the control panel of the embedded development environment (EDE) makes it easier to navigate and remember all of the correct settings required for the TC1130 as only the relevant controls for this derivative are shown.
When edits and settings are made, the EDE automatically updates the application's startup code, allowing the developer to focus on developing software rather than remembering settings.
By working closely with chip manufacturers to support new architectures, Altium continues to break down the barriers to innovation and technological advancement, and provide every electronic engineer and embedded system developer with easy access to the best possible design tools.
The Tasking TriCore VX-toolset is a complete, integrated embedded software development toolset consisting of the Tasking EDE, C/C++/EC++ compiler, assembler, linker/locator and CrossView Pro OCDS and simulator debugger.
The product is available for PC/Windows and Sun/Solaris platforms.
Prices start at Eur 4290 for the C/C++/EC++ compiler and simulator debugger package for PC/Windows.
