Embedded FPGA design system is vendor independent
Nexar is the industry's first product to provide a comprehensive, vendor-independent solution for system-level design on an FPGA platform.
Interface puts FPGA suite on third-party boards
A new universal JTAG interface allows engineers to use the full LiveDesign capabilities of Altium's Nexar system-level FPGA development software with virtually any third-party FPGA development board.
Altium has also added support for Xilinx Synthesis Technology (XST), and the latest version of Xilinx's ISE logic design software to Nexar.
"Xilinx's Spartan-3 FPGAs provide a perfect platform for developing microprocessor-based systems on FGPAs due to their high capacity, system-level capabilites, and low cost", said Nick Martin, Joint CEO and founder of Altium.
"By introducing Spartan-3 support in Nexar, we are providing our customers with easy access to the latest technology in platform FPGAs".
Steve Lass, Director, Software Marketing at Xilinx, said: "The Spartan-3 FPGA family has seen an incredible amount of market acceptance because it features the industry's lowest cost points as well advanced features".
"Our alliance with Altium will extend this further through our exposure to their very large user base".
Altium's Nexar development system for complete processor-based digital systems on FPGAs is priced at Eur 7995.
For a limited time, this price also includes a NanoBoard - an FPGA-based nano-level breadboard with swappable FPGA daughterboards.
Service Pack 1 for Nexar, which includes support for Xilinx's Spartan-3 FPGAs, XST synthesiser and ISE v6.2, has been released today.
Altium's NanoBoard is currently delivered with two daughterboards included - the Xilinx Spartan-IIE and the Altera Cyclone daughterboards.
However, as part of a current offer, customers that purchase a full Nexar licence before 30th June receive both the NanoBoard and the choice of either an Altera Stratix or a Xilinx Virtex-II daughterboard free (valued at Eur 495).
