Loopback provides copper-based alternative

A Timbercon product story

A new SFP electrical loopback provides an alternative copper-based solution for loopback testing applications.

Timbercon has developed an SFP electrical loopback designed to provide an alternative copper-based solution for loopback testing applications.

The SFP electric loopback from Timbercon provides a cost effective, high speed solution for testing applications, with support up to 2.5Gbit/s.

Loopback construction provides very good EMI performance, hot swap ability for zero system down time, pull down release bail for ease of removal, and an LED indicator that illuminates on verification of power and proper seating.

The SFP electrical loopback is MSA (multisource agreement) compliant and supports Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel and Infiniband protocols.

"We have developed the SFP loopback in response to the demand for a test fixture designed for board and system level testing, prior to transceiver population", states Eric Meslow, President of Timbercon.

"The result is a product that accomplishes exactly that, while providing the user a couple of additional features either not available, or not standard with other product on the market".

The SFP loopback is available in nominal and attenuated version from 0 to 20dB.
