Fibres put under the microscope in Anaheim

Timbercon will host a special fibre optic cable testing and inspection event at the OFC/NFOEC show in Anaheim, from 27th to 29th March 2007.
This service will provide show visitors the opportunity to get a standard fibre optic cable cleaned, tested, inspected and analysed with accompanying hard copy inspection report of the cable, compliments of Timbercon.
For each cable provided, Timbercon will properly clean the cable assembly, perform an end face inspection with a Westover 400x scope to check for scratches, pits and contamination; conduct an interferometry analysis for radius, apex offset, fibre height, angle, key error and fibre roughness; capture insertion loss and return loss measurements.
On completion, Timbercon will provide a hard copy report summary of the cable.
The event is designed to offer a free, no obligation opportunity for users of fibre optic cables to receive professional cleaning, inspection, testing and analysis of their cable while enabling delegates to gain a better understanding of fibre cable testing, the differences in performance associated with various performance criteria, connectorisation, polish and the importance of cleaning.
"Our goal with this event is to provide fibre optical cable assembly users an opportunity to look at one of their own cables and better understand the various attributes associated with its performance, and how those attributes can be optimised with quality cable preparation and manufacturing", commented John Lee, VP of Sales and Marketing for Timbercon.
"This is a great opportunity to get free testing and independent analysis on a cable currently in use at your facility".
The free test and inspection event is open to all visitors to the OFC/NFOEC 2007 show.
To participate, simply bring a standard fibre optic cable assembly to the Timbercon booth (3207) during exhibit hours and ask a Timbercon representative "How good is my cable?".
Each event participant will receive an Armadillo loopback (single-mode or multimode) and enter a draw to win an Apple Ipod.
