Module simulates larger fibre networks

A Timbercon product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jul 20, 2007

Network simulation module is billed as the longest single-chassis device on the market, requiring less physical rack space requirements and eliminating the daisychaining of multiple modules.

Timbercon has developed a 250km network simulation module as a platform for improved testing and measurement of fibre networks, test equipment and optical subsystems requiring extended fibre channel lengths.

The Timbercon 250km network simulation module is the longest single-chassis network simulation module on the market, requiring less physical rack space requirements and eliminating the daisychaining of multiple modules together, necessary to achieve longer length simulation channels.

"The 250km network simulation module has been developed as a solution for applications requiring extended distance fibre links", says John J Lee, Vice President at Timbercon.

"Using traditional network simulation boxes, it may take several boxes daisychained together to achieve the same distance available in a single 250km Timbercon network simulation module".

The module is available with any number of channels and a variety of fibre and connector types.

For shorter fibre length requirements, Timbercon offers network simulation modules in lengths from 100m to 200km.

All Timbercon network simulation modules are highly customisable, allowing each module to be designed and built to emulate virtually any network or scenario.

Specific events at defined locations (distances), multiple connection types, multiple channels with varied lengths or a combination of all are increasingly sought after options.
