Although compatible with the original NXP S87C751 design, the TK87C751 offers double the RAM resources and 32x the program storage.

Tekmos has released the industry's first true pin-for-pin, code- and timing-compatible drop-in replacement for the S87C751 previously offered by NXP The TK87C751 is an integrated microcontroller combining the Tekmos 8051 Classic CPU core, built in power management, I2C controller, two timers, three parallel ports, 128byte of internal RAM, plus an industry first by including 65Kbyte of Flash program storage, all within the original 28-PLCC package

A version based on the original 24-PDIP is planned for Q2 2008.

Although compatible with the original NXP S87C751 design, the TK87C751 offers double the RAM resources and 32x the program storage.

The use of Flash for the program storage allows the customer to reprogram devices if necessary.

Tekmos also plans to introduce several derivative products to replace discontinued NXP microcontrollers, along with the recently discontinued Intel 8031/8051 product offerings and drop in replacements for the Freescale 68HC05 microcontroller.

Bob Abrams, Vice President of Sales and Marketing says the device is engineered to be a compatible drop-in replacement.

This eliminates any need to modify the printed circuit board or existing software code.

The TK87C751 is available now in a 28-pin PLCC package, and is priced at US $7.50 each in quantities of 1000 units.
