MCU drops in to upgrade memory
The TK89C668 is designed as a pin-for-pin, code and timing compatible drop in replacement for the original P89C668 microcontroller offered by NXP.
Tekmos has developed the industry's first true pin-for-pin, code and timing compatible drop in replacement for the NXP P89C668 The TK89C668 stands out from other 8051 variants in that it contains 8Kbyte of RAM as well as 64Kbyte of Flash

Although compatible with the original NXP S87C751 design, the TK87C751 offers double the RAM resources and 32x the program storage.
The TK89C668 also contains hardware support for the TWI interface, a watchdog timer, security features, and all extended 8051 peripherals.
It provides a choice of a 6x or 12x clock with classic timing, and is packaged in a 44-pin PLCC package.

The Tekmos TK89C668 offers customers the security of a stable product supply now and in the future.
Tekmos also plans to introduce several derivative products to replace older NXP microcontrollers, along with the recently discontinued Intel 8031/8051 product offerings and drop in replacements for the Freescale 68HC05 microcontroller.
According to Bob Abrams, Vice President of Sales and Marketing: "The device is engineered to be a compatible drop in replacement".
"This eliminates any need to modify the printed circuit board or existing software code".
The TK89C668 is available now in a 44-pin PLCC package, and is priced at US $7.50 each in quantities of 1000 units.
