Nemerix has announced that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has become the supplier of Nemerix' CMOS technologies

Nemerix, a semiconductor company specialising in ultra low power RF and base band chipsets and software for GPS and wireless applications, has announced that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), has become the supplier of Nemerix' CMOS technologies.

Nemerix provides chipset technology that is specifically designed for the mobile handset market.

Its offerings combine competitive power, performance and accuracy, with very small size and slim form factor.

Nemerix' AGPS chipsets achieve indoor sensitivity, while consuming negligible memory and processor resources from the host platforms of PDAs or mobile phones.

The alignment with TSMC brings the industry-leading manufacturing capabilities to Nemerix that are needed to deliver GPS functionality to the mobile handset industry on a mass-market scale.

"We believe that the GPS market will continue to experience rapid growth".

"Nemerix' design teams have been working with TSMC on 0.18-micron, 0.13-micron and other smaller geometries to create products that will enable Nemerix to be well differentiated, and help drive the advance of GPS into wider end markets, " said Kenneth Kin, TSMC's Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Service.

"TSMC's leadership in process technology and flexibility in design implementation enable Nemerix to generate GPS and AGPS products that consume less than half the power consumption of competing product".

"In addition, TSMC's manufacturing excellence demonstrated by short cycle times and fast ramp to volume enables Nemerix to support the needs of our customers in mobile consumer products, including cell phones," said Ron Torten, Nemerix' CEO.
