The MC55 and MC56 from Siemens Wireless Modules are billed as the smallest double triband GPRS Class 10 modules available on the market The MC55 and MC56 modules are functionally similar to the MC45 and MC46 but smaller

Weighing only 5.5g and with dimensions of 35 x 32.5 x 2.95mm, this enables integrators to have the highest degree of flexibility possible when integrating voice and data communication in their own products.

Consequently, the modules are ideally suited for mass-produced consumer goods including mobile phones, smart phones, PDAs and other portable devices.

Together, the MC55 and MC56 cover all of the GSM/GPRS networks enabling product development for the global market.

The MC55 supports frequencies commonly used in Europe and Asia - 900, 1800 and 1900MHz - whereas the MC56 supports 850, 1800 and 1900MHz - and so is particularly suited to the North American market.

The new modules are designed for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices (smartphones and pocket PCs), also suitable for use as embedded GSM/GPRS modems in their own right.

RIL/MUX software will be available upon request with the modules.

Jerry Sandys, Managing Director of TDC comments, "These super small GPRS modules open up global opportunities for integrators".
