Transponder coils answer US automotive
demands
Prompted by new legislation in the USA that requires new vehicles to be fitted with a low tyre pressure warning system as a safety device, TDK has developed its TPL series of transponder coils.

Component library is free to design customers
TDK and Ansoft Corporation have announced the release of a new library for TDK's capacitor, inductor, common mode filter, and ferrite bead components for use in Ansoft Designer.
Wire-wound inductors go lead-free
The NLV32 and NLCV32 SMD are lead-free wire-wound inductors for signal lines.
The TPL transponder coils offer high reliability and durability provided by a full moulding, which protects the coil during assembly.
The full moulding and flexible terminal ensure that the TPL series can withstand extreme bend and drop tests, and providing best in class shear force resistance.
This makes the TPL series ideal for automotive systems that demand high performance.
TDK's expertise in manufacturing ferrite cores means that the TPL transponder coils have been designed to the highest quality and sensitivity, ensuring their reliability in safety applications such as tyre pressure monitoring.
Each coil houses a ferrite core made from advanced magnetic materials and manufactured to an optimum design, following extensive magnetic field analysis and Spice simulation by TDK.
The TPL transponder coils demonstrate very stable electrical characteristics, due to the high quality of the ferrite core.
The TPL coils have a high self-resonance frequency made possible by TDK's unique winding process, carried out during manufacturing.
This ensures that the inductance characteristics of the coils remain stable.
As part of its continuous recognition of the importance of care for the environment, TDK has designed the TPL series using lead free ferrite, terminals and solder.
