TDK has expanded its portfolio of EMI filter arrays with the introduction of three compact noise countermeasure components The MEA2010LV series of components features an EMI filter array and ESD countermeasures on one chip for the first time

TDK has also developed two other noise countermeasure components, specifically for mobile terminals compatible with terrestrial digital TV broadcast.

The series of noise countermeasure components (MEA2010LV, MEA2010PT and MEA1608PE), which are characterised by their smaller size and weight, have been developed in response to the increasing space limitations in portable devices such as cellphones, and the increasing prevalence of terrestrial digital television broadcast to mobile devices across Europe.

The MEA2010LV series incorporates ESD countermeasures and noise countermeasures into a single chip, freeing up precious space on the circuit board.

The inclusion of the ESD protection function means engineers can prevent cellphone malfunctions caused by ESD from the human body, as well as preventing noise in LCD lines.

With the introduction of additional functions and the reduction in size of mobile devices such as cellphones, integrating multiple components into one chip has become an important design issue.

TDK developed a new material that features better reduction characteristics at higher frequencies.

This, combined with the use of high-precision internal pattern formation technologies and structure optimisation technologies, has enabled the MEA2010LV series to achieve EMI reduction over a broader frequency range than previously possible.

Noise countermeasure components for terrestrial digital broadcast-compatible cellphones In response to the increasing prevalence of terrestrial digital television for mobile terminals such as cellphones and notebook PCs, TDK has released the MEA1608PE and MEA2010PT series noise countermeasure components.

With television tuners for mobile terminals, especially cellphones, needing to handle the frequency bands for both communication (800MHz-2GHz) and broadcast (470-770MHz), noise countermeasure has become an important issue.

Using optimal materials and pattern designs, the products not only reduce noise in the broadcast frequency band, but also help prevent deterioration of circuit waveform quality.

TDK released the MEA2010PE series of DVB-H compatible noise filter arrays in December 2005.

However, due to demand for more compact components, is now releasing the even-smaller (1.6 x 0.8 x 0.5mm) MEA1608PE model.

The product range includes four filter arrays that can be used for devices with terrestrial digital broadcast tuners as well as a series of other noise countermeasure applications in the 470MHz-2GHz range.
