Common-mode filter comes in tiny outline
Miniaturised filter offers outstanding transmission characteristics and noise control.
TDK reckons it has developed the industry's smallest thin-film common-mode filter for EMI countermeasures in high-speed data transmission The new TCM0605 filter employs TDK's thin-film magnetic-head technologies - as well as fine-pattern conductor-formation and film-formation technologies

Component library is free to design customers
TDK and Ansoft Corporation have announced the release of a new library for TDK's capacitor, inductor, common mode filter, and ferrite bead components for use in Ansoft Designer.
As a result, the miniaturised filter offers outstanding transmission characteristics and noise control.
This answers the challenges posed by the broadening application of high-speed data transmission, such as video streaming or high-quality image downloads, which require compact noise countermeasures that have an adverse affect on the signal quality of differential transmission lines.
For the general market, these components also solve the challenges faced by engineers as electronic devices become more compact or incorporate more advanced functions.
The new filter measures 0.65 x 0.50 x 0.30mm, achieving about a 50% reduction in volume and 35% decrease in mounting area compared with TDK's TCM1005 product, which measures 1.00 x 0.50 x 0.42mm.
In addition, the reduced profile of the TCM0605 filter facilitates streamlined electronic devices, such as mobile phones and portable digital music players.
Samples of the 0605-type filter will be shipping in April 2008, available with a rated voltage of 10V and rated currents from 50 to 100mA DC.
