Protocol analyser speeds Bluetooth development
Tektronix has developed a protocol analyser for Bluetooth wireless technology development applications.
Tester gets the measure of wireless basestations
Tektronix has developed a new compact, modular instrument designed to simplify routine field installation and maintenance measurement tasks in wireless networks.
A primary tool used in the ongoing development of Silicon Wave's Bluetooth product portfolio has been Tektronix' BPA100 Bluetooth protocol analyser, which allows developers to quickly locate problems in their Bluetooth designs and verify compliance with the latest published Bluetooth standards.
Silicon Wave is using multiple BPA100 units for the design, test and validation phases of its Bluetooth product development.
Both companies are associate members of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).

Tektronix gets the picture - and analyses it
Tektronix has announced the next-generation picture quality analysis system for broadcasters and video providers who need to ensure picture quality by analysing out-of-service video content.
"Bluetooth technology is finding strong acceptance in the embedded systems market, and we are seeing some definite progress with regard to Bluetooth product development from our customers in the consumer electronics, telecommunications and automotive industries.
For this reason, we are continuing to offer the very best Bluetooth test equipment to complement our full embedded test and measurement portfolio", said Craig Overhage, vice president, Instruments Business Unit, Tektronix.
"The BPA100 is the market leader in Bluetooth protocol analysers, enabling users to synchronise with a piconet for active participation or independent observation when testing and verifying Bluetooth designs".
"Without solid test equipment, we simply could not provide our customers with reliable Bluetooth ICs and processors", said Tom Cargill, Integration and Test Manager, Silicon Wave.
"Because we are a Bluetooth market leader, Tektronix approached us to help them define new features and test the usability of their new Version 2.2 software for the BPA100.
We are pleased to report that the Tektronix BPA100 Bluetooth protocol analyser provides greater synchronisation and flexibility and a more effortless human interface than any other Bluetooth protocol analyser on the market".
Tektronix has also announced today the availability of new Version 2.2 (V2.2) software for the BPA100 Bluetooth protocol analyser.
The BPA100 V2.2 offers new protocol decodes for additional translation and analysis of extended Bluetooth layers and also features a revamped human interface for improved efficiency and functionality.
The BPA100 is a protocol debug tool for engineers integrating Bluetooth technology into their designs.
It allows engineers to log, decode and display all the baseband packets transmitted and received within a Bluetooth piconet.
In addition, higher-level protocol packets and commands can be viewed.
With the use of selective triggering and filtering, the user can capture or display data of interest.
In piconet mode, user-generated traffic such as errors or data packets can be introduced into transmissions. Request a free brochure from Tektronix ...
