Ceramics boost high-frequency performance

A new range of high-frequency ceramics from Temex offers twice the performance of previous materials for 8-15GHz applications, at no significant extra cost.

A new range of high frequency ceramics from Temex offers twice the performance of previous materials for 8-15GHz applications, at no significant extra cost.

Temex' E7000 is a high Q material, developed to achieve very low losses at 8-15GHz.

High-frequency applications such as 3G basestation filters, ultrastable oscillators and high-performance radio links can benefit from this material's Q factor of 200,000 to 250,000 at 10GHz according to temperature coefficient.

Temex' previous best material achieved a Q factor of 150,000 at 10GHz.

Resonators based on E7000 series materials offer low losses and high selectivity.

There is currently a selection of temperature coefficients available, all manufactured to tight frequency tolerances, ranging from 0 up to +6ppm/ C.

The new material offers a relative permittivity of 24 +/-2.

Temex is supporting its new materials with simulation software available from its website.

Using a straightforward data entry screen to insert the parameters, designers are offered a recommended device together with a simulation of its performance in the designers system.

The impact of including a spacer can also be evaluated using this tool.
