Telairity is making its real-time H.264 HD compression technology available in the form of a motherboard solution that OEMs can use to create next-generation broadcast encoders that provide high-quality images at a low bitrate and low latency As a cost-effective HD video compression solution, the compact TM8000 board will speed time to market for manufacturers of video encoders, servers, cable head-ends, or any other distribution point for applications including broadcasting, news streaming, content aggregation, satellite/cable, VOD, and video surveillance

The TM8000 board can be customised by OEMs using their own mezzanine or addon cards to enable audio encoding and transport stream outputs for specific applications.

Or, as an alternative for customers who need a complete out-of-the-box solution, Telairity offers the TM8000A mezzanine addon card with MPEG-4 AAC-LC audio encoding and transport stream-out functionality.

"By offering the TM8000 motherboard as a stand-alone product, Telairity is enabling OEMs to create encoders that are tailored to provide specific, differentiated features for their individual applications", said Howard Sachs, Telairity founder, President, and CEO.

"We are providing the fundamental video encoder hardware and software design, so each OEM can focus on its particular value-add while getting to market much more quickly".

The TM8000 motherboard accepts uncompressed 1080i and 720p (4:2:2) HD-SDI video inputs and encodes in compliance with the H.264 Main profile, Level 4 standard.

Users can select between constant-bitrate (CBR) and variable-bitrate (VBR) encoding options with bit rates ranging up to 20Mbit/s.

Compressed video and audio is output on an MPEG-2 transport stream via DVB ASI.

Based on the software-programmable Telairity-1 video architecture, the TM8000 is software-upgradeable to enable future quality, feature, and FRext standard enhancements.
