TI to include RealAudio and RealVideo on
DSPs

As part of the agreement, TI will integrate RealNetworks RealAudio and RealVideo in its high-performance TMS320C6000 DSP platform.
Consumer electronics and video equipment manufacturers that use C6000 DSPs will be able to provide their customers easy access to audio and video programming now available on the Internet through RealNetworks industry-leading RealAudio and RealVideo.
"Furthering the strategic alliance with RealNetworks allows TI to provide video and imaging customers an easy, integrated interface to more than 85% of the streaming media content on the Internet", said Pradeep Bardia, worldwide strategic marketing manager, DSP Video and Imaging, Texas Instruments.
"For our customers, this will speed time-to-market for more differentiated next-generation, broadband video streaming products".
"We're excited to be broadening our relationship with Texas Instruments and integrating RealAudio and RealVideo into their market-leading DSPs targeted towards set-top boxes and other embedded devices", said Mark Bretl, vice president, Media Systems, RealNetworks.
"Today's announcement ultimately benefits consumer electronics OEM customers - this integrated platform will allow these OEMs to quickly embed streaming media capability into their DSP-based devices at a significantly reduced bill of material costs".
In recent months, RealNetworks has delivered on its commitment to extend RealPlayer, now with more than 200 million unique registered users, to next-generation consumer devices.
The company is continuing to build on over a dozen strategic agreements in the consumer appliance arena with set-top box manufacturers, console makers, cell phone manufacturers, and makers of other home Internet appliances.
In January, TI and RealNetworks announced a collaboration to provide Internet multimedia solutions for next-generation wireless and digital audio devices.
RealAudio and RealVideo integrated onto TI C6000 DSPs is scheduled to be available for OEMs in fourth quarter of 2001.
