Reference design for wireless optical comms
A new technology from Texas Instruments dramatically cuts the cost and complexity of bringing the high-speed datarates of optical networking to end users.
Maycom will launch the digital radio at CeBIT 2002, next week in Hannover, Germany.
"TI's low cost chipset has allowed us to launch the first portable DAB radio in the market today", said Su Won, Bae, CEO at Maycom.
"Leveraging TI's easy-to-design DAB solution, Maycom is leading the charge in this new, burgeoning market with unique, differentiated digital radio products without making the costly investment of engineering resources".
"Since the digital radio market emerged in 1997, there has not been such a unique, portable product like Maycom's new DAB clock radio", said Naresh Coppisetti, manager for TI's Digital Radio business unit.
"TI is proud to see our DAB technology utilized to build such a differentiated, breakthrough device offering a cool form factor".
Incorporating TI's TMS320C5000 DSP-based TMS320DRE200 digital baseband with TI's analogue chipset for DAB, the DRE200 evaluation board and reference design offer customers the most comprehensive DAB solutions today, simplifying the design process and giving manufacturers the flexibility and ease-of-build to enable the fast market delivery of differentiated, inexpensive products.
TI's DRE200 turnkey reference design allows manufacturers with little or no digital radio experience to bring a product successfully to market at a low system cost.
The DRE200 turnkey reference design also offers manufacturers a baseline platform for developing multiple products and the ability to reuse the design, greatly reducing development time and costs.
Maycom's DAB clock radio, which is mains-operated, is expected to be in production in second quarter 2002.
Maycom is currently in discussions with retailers and distributors regarding product shipments and will release more details as it becomes available.
The TI DRE200 digital baseband and analogue chipset for DAB are in production now.
TI also offers the DRE200 evaluation boards and turnkey reference design.
