Reference design for wireless optical comms
A new technology from Texas Instruments dramatically cuts the cost and complexity of bringing the high-speed datarates of optical networking to end users.
Featuring 120dB dynamic range, 0.0002% THD+N, -130dB interchannel crosstalk, 2.5uV RMS output noise and operation from +/-5V analogue power supplies, the devices improve system performance in audio amplifiers, mixing consoles, multitrack recorders, broadcast studio equipment, high-end A/V receivers, effects processors, musical instruments and high-end car audio systems.
"Our new audio volume control ICs offer the highest performance in the industry, and are a perfect match for today's demanding audio applications", said Mike Centorino, professional audio marketing manager of TI's Burr-Brown product division.
Incorporating internal high-performance operational amplifiers, the PGA2311 and PGA4311 yield low noise and distortion while providing the capability to drive 600-ohm loads directly without buffering.
A three-wire serial control interface allows for connection to a variety of host controllers and supports daisychaining of multiple PGA2311 and PGA4311 devices.
Other features include a wide gain and attenuation range of +31.5 to -95.5dB with 0.5dB steps, zero crossing detection and a mute function.
The two-channel PGA2311 is packaged in a DIP-16 and SOL-16 and priced from $4.95 in 1000 piece quantities (suggested resale pricing).
The four-channel PGA4311 is packaged in an SOP-28 and priced from $8.95 in 1000 piece quantities.
