D-Link and Texas Instruments are working to integrate TI's 802.11 technology into the 2.4GHz D-LinkAir wireless network solutions for retail Combining the strengths of both companies, D-LinkAir products will provide higher data-rates and wider coverage areas through the use of TI's ACX100 chip, which delivers at least a 30% throughput improvement at 11Mbit/s (CCK-operation) at greater distances than competition

"This is an exciting time for TI as we team up with D-Link to bring our wireless technologies to retail.

We are very pleased that they have selected our WLAN technology for use in the next generation of their widely respected D-LinkAir series of IEEE 802.11b wireless networking solutions", said Marc Cetto, general manager of the Wireless Networking Business Unit at Texas Instruments Incorporated.

"TI's 802.11b technology offers D-Link high-performance, standards-compliant Wi-Fi operation with interoperability to seamlessly work with the current install-base of 802.11b products".

"The ACX100 technology from Texas Instruments features a versatile and powerful design that will allow consumers to achieve greater levels of performance when networked to other IEEE 802.11b compliant wireless devices", said Steven Joe, president of D-Link.

"In addition, with the TI chip we can deliver extended reach and range at even faster speeds when the TI-based D-LinkAir networking products are connected to each other".
