TI's 225MHs DA610 Aureus DSP, a 32/64bit floating-point DSP optimised for multi-channel surround sound applications, features a comprehensive PA software framework that provides a new dimension in flexibility, allowing OEMs to focus on their own value-added custom post processing.

Texas Instruments has unveiled its new technology featuring end-to-end advanced TDMA that will enable a 50% increase in upstream plant capacity.
The PA framework builds upon TI's eXpressDSP software and development tools, including the easy-to-use Code Composer Studio integrated development environment.
The DA610 Aureus DSP enables customers of the DAE-5 to use over two-thirds of the DA610's performance for custom postprocessing, such as room correction and synthesised room acoustics, even while running a complete DTS 96/24 system (which includes auto-detection, input/output, stream management and decoding).
"Our close relationship with TI has enabled us to create a product that saves OEMs man-years of development time", said Dr Jerry Purcell, President of MDS.
"Our customers can now deliver the latest in multichannel audio decoding and processing quickly and with features that are tuned to the market".
The DAE-5 adds key functionality to an already strong family of DAE products.
The DAE-5 hardware includes: 192kHs, 24bit DACs supporting the highest-quality audio formats used today; Flash-upgradeable subsystem via SPI or S/PDIF interfaces allowing for upgrades to the consumer to add additional enhancements to their products; and one S/PDIF input, two analogue inputs, eight channels of analogue output, four I2S outputs and an eight-channel analogue bypass provide design flexibility.
Ready-to-use audio software modules for the DAE-5 save manufacturers development time and resources.
In addition to DTS 96/24, the audio subsystem offers DTS-ES Discrete, Dolby Digital and 96kHs PCM decoders.
New matrix processing software includes Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES Matrix and DTS Neo:6.
Other available software includes comprehensive bass management, tone controls and double bass mode.
The THX Ultra 2 suite of features is available to licensees.
In addition, MDS provides extensive support to ease customers through the design and implementation process.
One of the most significant new features on the DAE-5 is the ability for OEMs to add their own custom postprocessing.
This gives them the ability to leverage a high quality platform but also differentiate their products with relative ease.

"Our goal is to better enable OEMs to address the needs of the high-quality audio market with a customisable solution that can bring them to market quickly, and the DAE-5 does just that".
The DAE-5 digital audio engine is scheduled to be available in sample quantities from MDS in April 2003 and is expected in production quantities in July 2003.
Pricing is $325 per unit for orders of 100.
