The ADS1110 is the industry's first 16bit delta-sigma ADC with an onboard voltage reference and tiny SOT23-6 packaging.

The ADS1110 is the industry's first 16bit delta-sigma ADC with an onboard voltage reference and tiny SOT23-6 packaging.

This low-priced, easy-to-use data acquisition system offers the industry's highest level of integration and performance for a SOT23-packaged delta-sigma ADC.

The ADS1110 is designed for high-resolution measurement applications where space and power consumption represent crucial considerations, such as consumer goods, handheld instrumentation, portable medical equipment and industrial process control.

"By integrating a precision ADC, voltage reference, programmable gain amplifier, oscillator and I2C interface into a SOT23 package, the ADS1110 provides unrivalled integration and precision at a minimum of effort and cost", said Jim Todsen, Product Line Manager for TI's oversampling data convertor products.

The ADS1110 is a fully differential, self-calibrating ADC with true 16bit no missing codes performance.

Conversions are performed using an onboard 2.048V reference (0.05% accuracy, 5ppm/C drift) with programmable datarates of 15, 30, 60 or 240 samples per second.

An onboard programmable gain amplifier (gains up to 8) allows smaller signals to be measured with high resolution.

The ADS1110 features low current consumption (240uA) and can be configured to automatically power down after a conversion.

The device uses an I2C interface and operates from a single 2.7 to 5.5V power supply.

With the incorporation of a precision voltage reference, the ADS1110 successfully extends the integration of the already available ADS1100.

This growing family of devices from TI offers the industry's smallest 16bit delta-sigma ADCs with system-oriented functionality.

The ADS1110 comes in an SOT23-6 package, and is available now from TI and its authorised distributors.

Suggested resale pricing starts at $1.95 in 1000-piece quantities.

An evaluation fixture is also available.
