Transceivers offer full bit width
flexibility
Four new dual-supply level translation transceivers are ideal for interfacing devices operating at different voltage nodes.
The SN74LVC1T45, SN74LVC2T45, SN74AVC8T245 and SN74AVC20T245 dual-supply level translation transceivers are ideal for interfacing devices operating at different voltage nodes Useful in portable consumer, networking, datacomms, and computing applications, these devices allow flexible bidirectional level translation between 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, 3.3 and 5V voltage nodes

Reference design for wireless optical comms
A new technology from Texas Instruments dramatically cuts the cost and complexity of bringing the high-speed datarates of optical networking to end users.
Mismatched I/O voltages between microprocessors and peripheral devices continue to occur as microprocessor I/O voltages migrate to lower nodes and peripherals maintain higher voltage nodes.
TI's new dual-supply level translation devices allow for communication between two devices that have such dissimilar interface voltages, while maintaining signal integrity and speed.
These devices also offer full configurability with each rail being configurable from 1.4 to 3.6V in the AVC technology and 1.65 to 5.5V in the LVC technology.
The AVC translators feature 12mA current drive and fast propagation delays of 3.5ns (typical) when translating from 1.8 to 3.3V.
Translators in the LVC technology have a maximum drive strength of 32mA and typical propagation delays of 4ns when translating from 3.3 to 5V.
These devices add further bit width flexibility to TI's dual-supply level translation portfolio that now provides options from 1 to 32bit.
The new 6-pin LVC1T45 and 8-pin LVC2T45 transceivers simplify routing by allowing designers to place a single or a dual translator on the board rather than routing through a higher bit-width device.
These transceivers are extremely useful for level shifting control signals from general purpose I/Os.
LCD applications commonly require 20bit, and TI offers an integrated solution for this product space.
TI's new AVC20T245 is ideal in situations where 16bit data and 4bit control need translation.
Today this is commonly implemented using two 16bit devices, resulting in 12 unused pins.
For applications where 24 or 28bit are necessary, the new AVC8T245 can be combined with TI's existing 16bit AVC translators or the new AVC20T245.
Initial budgetary pricing for these devices range from $0.40 to $2.50 in 1000-unit quantities.
All four devices are currently sampling along with other TI dual-supply level translation devices.
