Texas Instruments has introduced the industry's first 0- to 4-Gbps data buffer/signal conditioner with a dual multiplexer.
Reference design for wireless optical comms
A new technology from Texas Instruments dramatically cuts the cost and complexity of bringing the high-speed datarates of optical networking to end users.
Plugging and unplugging printer cables can subject printer ports to high electrostatic discharge conditions that may completely disable the printer.
Previous IEEE1284 interface solutions required external ESD protection to overcome these events.
TI has leveraged its logic technology capability to incorporate these external protection diodes into the new LVCE161284 solution without sacrificing reliability.
The new solution provides +/-15kV human body model, +/-8kV contact and +/-15kV air-gap discharge protection in accordance with IEC61000-4-2 (level 4) on the connector interface pins.
The high level of integration in the LVCE161284 allows designers to reduce part count and cost in addition to saving valuable board real estate.
The LVCE161284 also offers additional improvements over other 1284 interface devices such as: Ioff and power-up tristate to support hot insertion, an integrated PMOS transistor to prevent back-drive current, hysteresis at all inputs to provide noise margin, and an auto-power-up feature which prevents printer errors when the printer is turned on and no valid signal is at connector side pins.
Much like the other 1284 devices, flowthrough pinout helps optimise circuit layout.
The advantages of TI's LVCE161284 over existing IEEE1284 interface solutions reinforces TI's commitment to providing the market with innovative logic silicon solutions.
The SN74LVCE161284 is currently available to sample.
The device is offered in 48-pin SSOP (DL) and TSSOP (DGG) packaging.
Budgetary pricing for the SN74LVCE161284 is set at $2.00 in quantities of 1000.
