Reference design for wireless optical comms
A new technology from Texas Instruments dramatically cuts the cost and complexity of bringing the high-speed datarates of optical networking to end users.
"Until now, a high-performance, high IF data convertor has not been available to basestation manufacturers supporting the rapidly growing China market?, said Daniel Chen, Business Development Manger TI Asia.
"The ADS5413-11 offers all of the performance of a 12bit device in an 11bit form factor, delivering up to 1GHz of bandwidth?.
The ADS5413-11 is pin-compatible with previous generation devices including ADS5410 (12bit, 80Msample/s) and ADS5413 (12bit, 65Msample/s), providing an upgrade path.
As the ADS5413-11 does not require a licence for import into China, it can also be used for prototyping until licences for the 12bit ADCs are approved.
The ADS5413-11 performs at a high IF (up to 220MHz), and at a minimal power consumption of 400mW.
This high IF performance reduces the number of analogue down conversion stages by half, reducing overall bill of material (BOM) and systems costs.
In addition, this ADC operates from a single 3.3V supply, and offers a choice of digital output levels from 1.8 to 3.3V.
The low noise, high linearity and low clock jitter makes the ADS5413-11 ideal for high IF sampling applications.
The ADS5413-11 is available now in production quality from TI and its authorised distributors.
It is packaged in a 48-pin TQFP with PowerPAD integrated circuit package (7 x 7mm).
To help support the device, an evaluation module (EVM) is also available.
The EVM is a self-contained kit that allows customers to easily test the device in their own environment.
