This week at the NAB trade show, i3 Micro Technology unveiled its third-generation Mood T Box (MMB3) IP-based set top box, enabling TV and video services over broadband access.
With the processing power added by using TMS320DM642, Axis will be able to offer products that incorporate the latest in analytical capabilities and intelligent vision, which lead to reduced system requirements and overall cost of ownership for end users, while implementing the latest video surveillance intelligence.
With this technology, Axis' products will be able to use intelligent vision to identify activity, such as count people, recognise license plates and unattended bags in an airport.
"We chose this solution because of the processing power and programmability of TI's high-performance DM642 digital media processor", said Per Sten, Project Manager at Axis.
"With the addition of TI's DSP to Axis in-house developed chip Etrax and Artpec, we are able to have a future-proof design that we can easily migrate to next generation products and preserve our initial investment".
This device is ideal for cost-effective, high-performance DSP programming challenges, such as intelligent video solutions, as it handles up to 5760 million instructions per second (MIPS) at a clock rate of up to 720MHz.
