Analogue design engineers can now register on the TI website for a live Analog eLab webcast entitled "Designing with power modules: transient response, noise reduction and minimising capacitors" Presented by Texas Instruments and Arrow Electronics, the webcast will air at 1700 GMT on Wednesday 9th November 2005

TI analogue expert Bill Klein, PE and eLab guests, Brian Narveson of TI and Bryan Busacco of Arrow Electronics, will provide designers with an online discussion on design challenges with power modules.

Adrian Harris of TI will participate in lab demonstrations that offer application solutions.

The hour-long session will confront complex designs that require several voltages and have power system problems in sequencing, electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression, and minimising voltage deviation in the presence of current transients created by high speed digital circuits.

The panel will discuss how to provide more voltage rails for a wide variety of DSPs, ASICs and FPGAs.

Gaining an understanding of these applications will help engineers create successful designs.

During the lab segment, Klein and Harris will use TI's new second generation PTH power modules to demonstrate how these solutions will minimise the amount of input and output capacitance for DC/DC convertors.

Engineers will be shown techniques for doing simultaneous and sequential sequencing and reducing EMI.

They will also see how to handle high speed current transients with a minimum amount of bulk output capacitance.
