Flagship SBC gains rugged options
Thales Computers has released two new rugged versions of its flagship PowerEngine7 single board computer.
This makes the PowerEngine7 ideal for demanding environments found in many military and severe environment applications.
The PowerEngine7 features single or dual PowerPC 750FX processors, operating at 733MHz, providing extremely high performance at more than 1600 Dhrystone 2.1 MIPS, while drawing a very low 14W of power for the entire board.
The convection-cooled version of the PowerEngine7 is currently available.
A rugged conduction-cooled version will be available later in the year.
The new SBC includes up to 512Mbyte of SDRAM memory and up to 128Mbyte of Flash memory.
The performance of PowerEngine7 is enhanced by the 133MHz Avignon host bridge system controller which is optimised for use with the PowerPC processor, as well as the ALMA2e PCI/VMEbus bridge, providing the capability for 2eSST transfers.
The PowerEngine7 series features all the I/O of full-fledged SBCs including twin PMC slots (one PCI 64 at 66MHz, one PCI 32 at 33MHz), two 10/100BaseT Ethernet interfaces, as well as four asynchronous and two synchronous/asynchronous serial lines.
A bridgeless PMC-carrier is available to expand the PCI-64bit bus on the P0 and increase the number of slots to as many as four.
The convection-cooled PowerEngine7 with single/dual PowerPC 750FX processors is available at a starting price of $6133, with discounts for volume orders.
