Albarello moves up to top spot

Thales Computers has named Alain Albarello as Chairman and CEO.

Thales Computers has named Alain Albarello as Chairman and CEO.

He will oversee the company's design, production, sales and servicing of open computer systems for real-time applications to further strengthen Thales Computers' position in the military and aerospace markets.

From the Toulon, France headquarters, Albarello will manage the company's 150 employees located in Toulon and Jouy-en-Josas, France as well as Raleigh, NC.

During his almost 28 years with the Thales Group, Albarello has worked in various divisions, steadily progressing to positions of increased responsibility.

While with Thales Underwater Systems, Albarello held various high-level managerial positions, including Sophia Inboard Technology Director and French Inboard Technology Director.

He most recently served as Inboard Technology Centre Director where he was responsible for the research and development of processors, transmitters, electronics and middleware.

He oversaw the design, delivery, and maintenance of computer systems and electronic equipment to all sonar product lines throughout France, the UK and Australia.

Albarello also held several positions within other Thales Business Groups including Thales Communications as Signal Processing Lab Manager and Digital Processing Department Manager, where he focused on advanced studies, prototype development and digital product industrialisation.

In this division, he also worked in New Jersey in the USA for three years as Technical Director of a joint venture between GEC, Inisel, Italtel, Siemens and Thomson.

Before working with the Thales Group, Albarello served at the University of Arizona's Speech Signal Processing Research Centre, located in Tucson, Arizona.

Albarello holds an Engineering Degree from SUPELEC: Ecole Superieure d'Electricite, Gif-sur-Yvette, France, and was a Senior Member of the College Scientifique et Technique Thomson in Paris for over a decade.
