The PMC-FPDP is a front panel data port (FPDP) PCI mezzanine card designed to provide high-speed data acquisition in VME or CompactPCI single board computers used for digital signal processing.

The PMC-FPDP is a front panel data port (FPDP) PCI mezzanine card designed to provide high-speed data acquisition in VME or CompactPCI single board computers used for digital signal processing The board is available in air-cooled (SA) as well as rugged air-cooled (RA) and rugged conduction-cooled (RC) versions, making it ideal for both harsh-environment and commercial use

The PMC-FPDP is currently used as a sensor acquisition interface in a digital signal and data processing system for sonars.

In such an application, the data sent by the sensor front-end device is preprocessed by a Thales Computers' PowerPC G4-powered computing node through the use of the 2eSST-enhanced VMEbus or a crossbar switch and then broadcast to another set of other processing cards.

The PMC-FPDP is a single-width PMC that features a front panel data port interface compliant with ANSI/VITA-17.

The new PMC is based on the PLX PCI 9656 chip, which provides a 32/64bit, 33/66MHz PCIbus master/slave interface with a linked list direct memory access (DMA) engine, enabling data throughput speeds greater than 100Mbyte/s.

The control logic for the new PMC-FPDP is handled by a user-programmable Altera EP1S10 field programmable gate array (FPGA), with a large (64Kbyte maximum) integrated FIFO.

The new PMC is available with either a TTL (FPDP compliant) or EIA422 electrical interface.

Operating temperature of the PMC-FPDP's air-cooled and rugged air-cooled versions is -40 to +75C.

The rugged conduction-cooled PMC-FPDP features an operating temperature range of -40 to +85C.

Software support is provided for LynxOS 4.0 under a no-copy low latency virtual interface/direct deposit interface (VI-DDlink).

Pricing for the new PMC-FPDP starts at $2240 (quantity 100).
