Aerospace acquisition gets go-ahead from
Brussels
The European Commission has approved the transfer to Thales of Alcatel-Lucent's shareholdings in two space sector joint venture companies.
On April 4th 2007, the European Commission approved the transfer to Thales of Alcatel-Lucent's shareholdings in the two space sector joint venture companies: Alcatel Alenia Space (67% Thales/33% Finmeccanica) and Telespazio (67% Finmeccanica/33% Thales) The green light from the European Commission concludes the second phase of the agreement between Thales and Alcatel-Lucent announced on 5th April 2006

The complementarities of Thales Alenia Space in satellite systems and Telespazio in satellite services, will significantly contribute to strengthen the European Space industry as a whole.
Pascale Sourisse will remain President and CEO of the Thales Alenia Space joint venture company and will join the Executive Committee of Thales.
In parallel Giuseppe Veredice remains President and CEO of Telespazio.
