Three new TFT LCD chassis monitors overcome the heat and lighting issues associated with outdoor use.

Three new TFT LCD chassis monitors overcome the heat and lighting issues associated with outdoor use.

Applications such as window displays, kiosks, ticketing machines and ATMs will benefit from the units' innovative features.

Most standard LCDs will suffer permanent damage when used in sunlight for more than a few hours.

However the new Planar daylight-readable chassis monitor range from Trident Displays features a UV-resistant front polariser to protect the display area.

Additional features include forced-air cooling to allow the units to be used safely in ambient temperatures up to 50C at full brightness, a combination of multitube backlights together with contrast and brightness optics to achieve 1000cd/m2 brightness (1500cd/m2 on the 12.1in model) and operational contrast of around 300:1 across a wide range of ambient lighting conditions.

The new chassis monitors from Trident Displays also include sophisticated analogue interfaces with auto setup and menu control of all display parameters, saving the systems designer from sourcing and configuring his own interface cards.

Sizes range from an 8.4in with 800 x 600 pixel, to 12.1in with 1024 x 768 pixel up to 15in with 1024 x 768 pixel.

Optional vandal-resistant front surfaces can also be supplied.
