New LCD panels from Trident use specialist technology to achieve exceptional performance in terms of wide viewing angle, ultrahigh resolution and lightweight construction They are ideal for mapping, defence, medical imaging and other demanding applications

Following the signing of a partnership with ID-Tech, Trident is offering a range of three 15in LCD panels with resolutions of between 1400 x 2150 and 2048 x 1536 pixels, and a viewing angle of 170 degrees.

Trident's existing range of standard panels has resolutions of typically 1024 x 768 pixels.

All three panels have viewing angles of 170 degrees in both axes, with a virtually symmetrical viewing cone.

This means that colour shift and colour inconsistencies when viewing the display from extreme angles are almost eliminated.

This is essential for mapping and other applications where colours are used to show vital information.

This symmetry of viewing angle also means the panels can be used in portrait orientation as well as landscape - something which conventional panels aren't suitable for.

This is the result of ID-Tech's post-spacer construction, which also yields very high colour consistency.

These panels are all broadly mechanically compatible and are very light for their size - all below 700g - suitable for portable equipment.

All three feature two LVDS interfaces, and are supported by Trident with Kontron interface cards giving video, DVI and PC-RGB interfaces.
