A new ultracompact 5.7in display module is aimed at a wide range of industrial applications as well as point-of-sale and mobile terminals.

Trident Displays has introduced a new ultracompact 5.7in display module aimed at a wide range of industrial applications as well as point-of-sale and mobile terminals The device's small dimensions and its thickness of only 10mm enable the module to fit into the most constrained of enclosures

The narrow bezel around the screen also provides more flexibility in locating function keys around the display perimeter.

At just 131mm wide and 102mm high, the TX14D12VM1CBA module manufactured by Hitachi has a surface area that is 25% smaller than that of comparable TFT displays with the same active area.

The module offers a wide horizontal viewing angle of 120 degrees, and a contrast ratio of 350:1.

High colour saturation and a bright 350cd/m2 backlight result in a clear, crisp image.

The L-shaped CFL backlight has a long half-brightness lifetime of 50kh.

It is powered by an integrated DC/DC convertor, so that only a single 3.3V supply is needed to operate the module.

The transmissive TFT display has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixel.

With a colour depth of 3 x 6bit, it can reproduce 256K distinct colours.

A touchscreen option with an integrated resistive touchpanel is also available.
