Wide-screen 8.5in TFT LCD suits a wide range of applications from mobile computing to medical or industrial equipment.
The new WinMate transflective coating is a patent pending innovation that equips TFT LCDs with a reflective mode of illumination without compromising transmissive illumination.
The display reflects ambient light passing through the LCD cell and employs the reflected light as its illumination.
The stronger the ambient light, the brighter the LCD appears.
As a result, the display can be viewed under all lighting conditions, including direct sunlight, regardless of the LCD's original brightness.
The new open-frame display has a 31.5in (800mm) diagonal viewing area with 16:9 aspect ratio.
It has a typical contrast ratio of 800:1 and displays up to 16.7 million colours in a recommended resolution of 1366 x 768 at 60 or 75Hz.
Typical brightness is around 800cd/m2.
The WinMate coating generates a brightness gain of 344cd/m2 in sunlight of 10000cd/m2, rising to 456cd/m2 in 30000cd/m2 sunlight, with corresponding reflectance reducing from 0.85 to 0.65% for the same increase in ambient luminance.
Standard models come with a 15-pin D-sub connector for signal input.
Optionally, the screen accepts S-video and composite video as well as standard inputs.
Power consumption is 150W in typical operation and the display features VESA DPMS power management functions to lower energy usage.
