Achieving the TS16949:2002 standard is seen as a major business initiative that will allow Prestwick to compete successfully in an industry that continues to grow at an unprecedented rate.
It also reflects the enhanced business process within the company providing a competitive advantage over alternative suppliers.
TS16949:2002 operates in addition to QS9000 in terms of a higher quality standard of business management system.
In order to achieve this, Prestwick has adapted to a change in business culture across the entire company.
The improved business standards have cascaded to all departments within the company.
Although TS16949 is essentially an automotive standard, it is now being adopted by other industries.
For example, the defence industry has adopted the business management system and systematic processes, and applied them to their own market.
Derek Mansfield, Managing Director of TT Electronics Prestwick Circuits, says: "Prestwick currently has customers in various industry sectors - including automotive, telecommunications, medical, and defence industries".
"However, the automotive sector is Prestwick's largest market with over 80% of PCBs manufactured at the plant being supplied to Tier 1 automotive suppliers".
"We have taken advantage of the unprecedented growth in automotive technology as vehicle manufacturers have become more advanced, and recognised the importance of achieving this milestone registration to continue servicing a demanding industry sector that continues to flourish".
