BAE Systems signs for antitank weapons
components
TT ems has won a major new contract with BAE Systems to assist with the manufacture of a missile guidance system for a state of the art, next generation, antitank weapon for the UK's Armed Forces.
TT ems has won a major new contract with BAE Systems to assist with the manufacture of a missile guidance system for a state of the art, next generation, antitank weapon (NLAW) for the UK's Armed Forces BAE Systems Inertial Products in Plymouth has designed a miniature inertial measurement unit (IMU), based on its innovative solid-state silicon gyroscope technology, which is the core of the missile's guidance system

TT ems has been commissioned by BAE Systems to manufacture the electrical components and advanced flexi-boards used within the IMU.
These electrical components will then be returned to BAE Systems where they will be assembled into the IMU housing.
The complete unit will then be transported to Thales Air Defence in Northern Ireland for final assembly and testing into NLAW.
NLAW is due to enter service in 2006 to replace the British Army's existing weapon system which is reaching the end of its operational life.
Phil Lawrence, Director and General Manager of TT ems Rogerstone, says: "BAE Systems' silicon gyroscope is a fantastic example of leading-edge technology and this is an extremely exciting and high profile project for TT ems to be working on in partnership with BAE Systems.
The complex nature of the project makes good use of the extensive range of manufacturing resources we have in Rogerstone".
