TTems has been awarded its second contract from Switchgear and Instrumentation (S and I).

TTems has been awarded its second contract from Switchgear and Instrumentation (S and I).

The new deal covers the manufacture of the latest addition to S and I's portfolio of intelligent products, Motor Manager 6 - MM6.

TTems, a subsidiary company of global electronics manufacturing company TT electronics, has sites in Rogerstone (Wales) and Blyth (Northumberland) and the new contract has been awarded to the Rogerstone facility.

S and I, a world leader in the manufacture of high specification mid-low voltage motor control centres (MCCs), switchgear and power management systems, launched MM6 at The Institution of Electrical Engineers on 24th June 2004.

Motor Managers are designed to be incorporated within switchgear for process industry - S and I has particular expertise in manufacturing for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Their function is to protect, control and monitor the motors, and ultimately the manufacturing process to which they are assigned, thereby contributing to increased plant availability.

However, MM6 is a totally new design concept, the first of its kind to have true modularity and the flexibility to suit any application.

By incorporating MM6, S and I's intelligent control solutions are able to integrate everything from the most complex medium voltage (MV) starters to simple, noncritical, low voltage (LV) DOL starters with process control systems at the lowest possible cost.

Only those modules necessary to meet the requirements of each drive's application are utilised.

TTems will be manufacturing the complete unit right from initial material procurement to full box-build, and including comprehensive functional testing.

TTems has been awarded this new contract having already established a solid working relationship with S and I through its current contract to manufacture Motor Manager 5, the predecessor to MM6.

Andrew Cox, General Manager and Director, TTems Rogerstone says: "TTems has proven experience in design for manufacture and new product introduction management and is widely recognised as a leader in its sector".

"We have established a positive and successful working relationship with S and I over the last two years with the MM5 project and look forward to working with Switchgear and Instrumentation on the MM6 and future projects".
