Built around Intel 82551ER Ethernet controllers that provide an integrated media access controller (MAC) and physical layer (PHY), the 4435 offers full-duplex operation at 10 or 100Mbit/s speeds.
Connection to the 32bit, 66MHz PCIbus is through a PLX 6150B bridge, allowing each 82551ER controller to appear as an independent controller on the primary side of the bridge.
Transformer based electrical isolation is provided between the 82551ER controllers and the four corresponding RJ45 front panel connectors.
