Torex Semiconductor has a new range of power management solutions each comprising an LDO voltage regulator and voltage detector in one compact single-chip package.

The innovative XC6403 series not only provides regulated low-noise outputs but it can also be configured to monitor various parts of the circuit including the input, battery level check; and the output - similar to a power OK function.

With an industry-leading low current consumption of 30uA (less than 0.01uA in standby), the XC6403 is ideal for Bluetooth and wireless LAN as well as a wide range of other wireless applications such as mobile and cordless phones.

It is particularly suited to designs that are noise sensitive, the LDO having excellent noise and PSRR (65dB at 10kHz) performance.

The XC6403 is very versatile and designers can select active high or active low for the EN/CE logic, with or without a built-in pull up/down resistor.

The voltage detector output can detect high or low and can be set to detect VIN, VOUT or another power source using VSEN.

The EN function allows the voltage regulator only to switched on/off while the rest of the circuit remains on.

The CE function allows on/off control of the whole circuit.

In addition to the LDO and voltage detector the XC6403 also incorporates a voltage reference, an error amplifier, a current limiter and a phase compensation circuit plus a driver transistor.

The XC6403's voltage regulator is selectable in 0.1V increments between 1.8 and 5.6V; while the detector voltage is selectable in 0.1V steps within the range 0.9 to 5.6V.

Maximum output current for the series is within the range 150 to 300mA with a low drop out voltage of 60mV at 30mA and 200mV at 100mA.

The series is compatible with low-ESR ceramic capacitors that give added output stability.

Thanks to excellent transient response times, this high stability is even maintained during load fluctuations and provides an output noise rating of 30uV RMS making the devices particularly suitable for low-noise RF use.

The XC6403 series is available in a choice of SOT-25, USP-6B and SOT-89-5 package.

Operating temperature range is from -40 to +85C.
