Torex Semiconductor has reported a global annual turnover of US $115 million for the financial year ended March 2004.

Torex Semiconductor has reported a global annual turnover of US $115 million for the financial year ended March 2004.

This represents an increase of around 25% on the figures for 2002-2003.

"This time last year we forecast that sales would break the US $100million mark for the first time", commented Andy Scott, Torex Semiconductor Europe Marketing Manager.

"It gives us enormous satisfaction that we actually went on to post an annual turnover of US $115 million".

"For this current financial year to March 2005, we are confidently forecasting world sales of US $150 million, a 30% increase on this year's performance".

"Torex continues to go from strength to strength", said Scott.

"Our parent company Phenitec has just opened a brand new 6in wafer fab in the west of Japan".

"This has 1337m2 of clean room, based on a partition-free design, with cleanliness to Class 100".

"When fully operational it will produce over 10,000 wafers per month".

Having direct access to the Phenitec fabs is a major benefit and one of the main reasons why in Europe Torex can still offer 8-week lead times while many of its competitors are putting their lead times out to 16 and even 20 weeks.

Says Scott: "Phenitec's expansion ensures that we are able to provide our European customers with a consistently reliable flow of product".

"A stable supply of highly innovative new products continues to fuel our growth in Europe".

Torex also expects that all its parts will be lead-free from 1st September 2004.

In July, Torex will officially open its first office in mainland China.

The new company, Torex Semiconductor Device Shanghai Co, will have an initial staff of ten and will work closely with the Chinese design houses, supplying hands-on power management support and advice.
