LDO goes lower
The XC6210 series of high current, high speed low dropout regulators offers the same high performance as the Torex XC6402 series, but without the built-in voltage detector.
The XC6210 series of high current, high speed low dropout regulators offers the same high performance as the Torex XC6402 series, but without the built-in voltage detector.
The dropout voltage specification is extremely low, 50mV at 100mA, and the XC6210 can deliver a maximum output current of more than 700mA.
These two key performance characteristics mean that the XC6210 series offers high performance reliability and very low power consumption (only 25uA), meeting the modern day demands of product manufacturers.
Manufactured using Torex's CMOS process, the series features a voltage reference, an error amplifier, a current limiter and a phase compensation circuit.
Also incorporated is a low-on-resistance driver transistor, which allows batteries to be used until the input-output voltage differential is minimal.
The series is also compatible with low equivalent series resistance ceramic capacitors, which can provide added output stability.
Suitable for applications such as CD-ROM and DVD drives, digital cameras and portable audio/visual equipment, typical performance at 25C would be a voltage dropout of 50mV at 100mA output current, rising to 0.35V at 700mA.
The relationship between the voltage dropout and current is linear.
The operating voltage range is 1.5-6V with an output voltage range of 0.8-5.0V, available in 100mV increments.
Typical current drain is only 25uA.
The XC6210 series operates over a temperature range of -40 to +85C.
The series is available in ultrasmall packages including SOT-25, SOT-89-5 and USP-6B.
