Torex regulators offer ultra-low quiescent current

A Torex Semiconductor product story

The XC6502 Series of low dropout regulators from Torex Semiconductor provide an ultra-low quiescent current of only 1uA.

Available in industry standard SOT-23 and SOT-89 packages, these devices are particularly well-suited for power-sensitive applications.

The IC operates from a supply voltage within a range of 1.5V to 6V to provide output voltages that can be factory set anywhere from 0.9V to 4V in 100mV steps (accurate to +/-2 per cent), with an ultra-low dropout of typically 200mV at 100mA.

For extra output stability, the device is fully compatible with low ESR ceramic capacitors.

Manufactured using Torex's Cmos process, the XC6502 retains all of the features that are common to low dropout regulators, including a reference voltage source, an error amplifier, current limit circuit, plus a phase compensation circuit and a driver transistor.

The foldback current limit circuit also operates as the output current limiter (300mA max) and the output pin protector.
