New from Toshiba Electronics is the TB62201AF dual stepper motor driver IC, which outputs a micro-step pseudo sinewave with a chopping frequency that can be set by the user at 100kHz or higher At such frequency levels, the stepping waveform is much closer to a pure sine wave, and so motors driven by the device will run more quietly

Fabricated using Toshiba's BiCD process, the TB62201AF features a low on-resistance of 0.5Ohm and a low power consumption of just 0.86W per motor drive at a typical output of 24V and 0.6A.

Maximum output voltage and current are specified as 40V and 1.5A, respectively.

Integrated into each half of the device is a pair of 16bit shift and latch registers, a pair of 4bit D/A convertors, a charge pump circuit and a mixed decay mode facility.

Primarily aimed at high-volume applications such as fax machines and other office equipment, the TB62201AF has a high data transfer rate of 25MHz and is supplied in a 36-pin HSOP surface-mount package.
