CompactFlash cards run to industrial temperatures
Toshiba has extended its high-performance CompactFlash cards with versions that can meet the portable storage requirements of applications operating across the industrial temperature range.
The cards are designed to deliver high-performance, high-density, low-cost portable storage to applications ranging from digital still and video cameras to MP3 players, PDAs, next-generation mobile phones and electronic instruments.
Toshiba's CompactFlash cards offer full support for 8 or 16bit host transfer and are based on the integration of the company's NAND EEPROM technology with an intelligent controller device, an oscillator and a built-in connector.
The cards, which are fully compliant with the CompactFlash Standard version 1.4, can operate from a single 5 or 3.3V power supply and ensure low power consumption through an automatic power management facility.
Toshiba aims to launch 1Gbyte versions of the CompactFlash cards in 2002 and expects to reach densities of 4Gbyte within three years.
